Coach Bios - Girls Team

Head Coach Denise Hefferin enters her fourth season as the girls cross-country coach and her second year as a Business Education teacher at St. Charles East and is looking forward to another successful year both in the classroom and on the cross country course. During the past four years, the team has qualified for the State Meet three times and won third place in 2008.
Coach Hefferin hails from St. Charles and is a Saints Track and Cross Country Alum from the Class of 2000. During her tenure with the Saints, Hefferin was a two-time state finals qualifier in 3200 and a four-year member of the Saints cross country state finals team, including the back-to-back team state champions in 1997 & 1998. Hefferin continued her running career at Wake Forest University as a four-year member of the varsity cross country and track teams. Assistant Coach Scott Nold joined the girls staff in 2007 after a heralded career as both a Saints cross country athlete and coach. Nold has coached cross-country and track at Wredling Middle School since it’s inception in 1995 with a brief intermission in 2003 when he was the interim head boys cross country coach for the Saints. Before Wredling, Nold was the Haines Middle School cross country and track coach. Nold’s years of experience and success continue to contribute to the future of Saints running and the girls team is happy to welcome him back to it’s coaching staff..
