Meet the Coaches

Denise Hefferin hails from St. Charles and is a Saints Cross Country Alum from the Class of 2000. During her tenure with the Saints, Hefferin ran in 4 cross country state finals and was a member of the back to back cross country State Championship teams (1997 and 1998). Hefferin continued her running career at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where she was a four-year member of the varsity cross country and track teams.

After graduating with a Business Degree from Wake Forest in 2004, Hefferin worked a two-year stint in marketing and promotions for sporting events on the West Coast before returning home to St. Charles to join the Saints staff.

The 2011 season will be Hefferin’s sixth year with the Saints, her fifth as head coach. Over the last five years the Saints have won back-to-back Upstate Eight Conference Championships and qualified for state as a team three consecutive years, including a 3rd place team finish in 2008.

Hefferin is a Business and Special Education teacher at St. Charles East teaching courses in Management, Marketing and Business Law. In her spare time, Denise enjoys watching sports and participating in outdoor activities with her friends and family.

Scott Nold re-joined the Saints XC staff in 2007 after a heralded career as both a Saints cross country athlete and coach. Nold has coached cross-country and track at Wredling Middle School since it’s inception in 1995 with a brief intermission in 2003 when he was the interim head boys cross country and assistant track coach for the Saints.

Before Wredling, Nold was the Haines Middle School cross country and track coach. Scott ran for Jeff Leavey while attending St. Charles High and is still inspired by his enthusiasm and passion for the sport.

Nold’s years of experience and success continue to contribute to the future of Saints running and the girls team is happy to welcome him back for his fourth year as a member of the coaching staff. Scott is a Physical Education teacher at Wredling Middle School.
