February 26, 2010Midwest Conference Indoor Monmouth Men and Women Claim 2010 Championships PRs for Saints alums at Monmouth College - Sam Cokinos (Jr.) launched a PR to take third in the shot at 50’0-1/2 while Allison Devor (Fr.) placed third with a personal-best throw of 40’4-1/4. Devor took third in the weight throw with a PR of 49’5.
February 6, 2010 Vince Brown Invitational Rachel Banner (So.) recorded a height of 5’2 ¼” in the high jump, good for a third-place finish for Elon University.

The Navy men's track & field team won seven events, produced 10 IC4A qualifying-marks and set a pair of new facility records at the second annual Wesley A. Brown Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Alex Jackson (So.) was a part of the 4x400 foursome that narrowly missed a team season-best mark by .04 seconds, but took first with an IC4A time of 3:19.68.
January 29, 2010 NCC Triangular
Nick Cramer, freshman, is running Track for North Central College in Naperville. He competed in the NCC Triangular at their new home facility, the Al B. Carius Track. The win was the Cardinals' third straight this indoor season.
January 23, 2010 Midwest Invitational track meet
The Monmouth College Scots’ successes included field events where Sam Cokinos, junior, placed third in the shot put with a throw of 46’10-1/4.
January 16, 2010 Dick Pond Invitational John Deutsch, sophomore, is competing on the Lewis University track and field team. The Flyer men and women captured a combined 12 events at the annual Dick Pond Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 16) afternoon.

The Illinois State women's cross country team competed in the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships on the Missouri State Cross Country Course Saturday. The women completed the race in 13th place with 332 points. Kirsten Lang (22:48.7) took 78th place.

The 2009 season came to an end for the Lewis University men's cross country team on Saturday morning, as the Flyers placed 16th overall at the 10K NCAA Midwest Regional Championships, hosted by UW-Parkside, at the Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course. Sophomore, John Deutsch finished the 10k course with a mark of 39:17.
Nov. 4, 2009 Four Redbirds Named Valley Scholar-Athletes Illinois State junior Kirsten Lang was named to the 2009 Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Scholar-Athlete teams as announced by the conference office Monday. The Redbirds earned the award after the 2009 State Farm Missouri Valley Cross Country Championships last weekend in Peoria, Ill.
Oct. 31, 2009 Redbirds Take Second at Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championships
The women's team took second place at the conference championships with 86 points finishing behind Wichita State. ISU was led by juniors Sarah Glowacki and Kirsten Lang. Both finished in the top-10 to earn All-Missouri Valley Conference accolades for the first time in their careers. Glowacki finished the 5K race in a time of 19:13, which put her in eighth place, while Lang was a second behind in 10th place.

Redbird Cross Country Wraps Up Competition at Pre-Nationals Crossing the finish line second for the Redbird women was junior Kirsten Lang, who ran the 6K race in 22:19.40, and finished in 113th place.

Hynes Honored As ACC Women's Cross Country Performer Of The Week Freshman Elizabeth Hynes was named the ACC Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week this week because of her outstanding performance in the New England Championships that were held at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. last weekend. Boston College posted a second-place team finish in the 49 team event. Hynes led the Eagles in the grueling 5K course with a time of 18:16 which was good enough for ninth place overall in the event. Hynes is first Eagle to recieve the honor this season.

The Illinois State women's team, which ran in the Blue Division 5K race for the first time, finished the race in 18th place with 494 points. Junior Kirsten Lang (111th) was the fourth ISU runner when she crossed the finish line in a time of 18:19.

North Central freshman, Nick Cramer, finished 52nd in the 8k race with at time of 28:30.4. The North Central squad totalled 42 points to finish second behind Wheaton College, which compiled 24 points. The Cardinals finished well clear of third-place finisher St. Norbert College's 111-point effort.

Mars Hill junior, Tabitha Kielhack finished the 5k race with a time of 28:34.09. The Mars Hill women finished third in the college division with a team score of 95 points.
Sept. 18, 2009 Illinois Intercollegiate Championships Kirsten Lang's second-place finish and personal-best time of 17:55 (5K) propelled the Illinois State women's cross country team to the crown at the Illinois Intercollegiate Championships for the first time since 1986 Friday.

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's cross country squad started its 2009 season with a win at the Luther College All-American Invitational Saturday morning in Decorah. Caitlyn Bednarek ('09) finished her first collegiate 5K in 22:33.
Sept. 11, 2009 - Bradley Open
The Lewis men's cross country squad ran to a third-place finish in the College Division at the 24th Annual 8K Bradley Open at Detweiler Park on Friday evening. Sophomore John Deutsch ('08) rounded out the top five for the Flyers with a 39th-place time of 27:47.
The top-ranked North Central College men's cross country team continued its early season dominance, winning the Bradley University Open Friday afternoon at Detweiller Park. The team recorded a perfect score of 15 for the second straight week, claiming the top nine individual finishers. Nick Cramer ('09) finished 63rd with a time of 27:55.
Sept. 4, 2009, Elmhurst College Early Bird Invitational
The North Central College men's cross country team claimed the top six individual places en route to a perfect score of 15 points. Freshman, Nick Cramer, made his collegiate running debut covering the 6,000-meter (3.75-mile) course in 22:06.

Illinois State women's cross country team won its season opener at the Illini Challenge with seven Redbirds crossing the finish line in the top-10 of the women's 4K race. Junior Kirsten Lang finished fourth with a time of 14:39.82.
Aug 29, 2009 Erskine Invitational 2009
Mars Hill junior, Tabitha Kielhack finished 60th in the 4k race with a time of 22:48.0. The Mars Hill men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2009 campaign in true European cross county style. The course featured multiple barriers to hurdle as well as a large ditch. Overall the teams fared well on a very hot day.
August 23, World Championships Tera Moody ('99) finished 28th at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Berlin with a time of 2:36:39.
Moody, fourth in the 1996 IHSA cross country championship.

The call inviting her to run in the marathon world championships, when it came in May, was one of the best moments of her life. San Francisco Marathon (SFM)

Tera Moody (USA) ran in The San Francisco Marathon (SFM) events as a tune-up for the marathon on Sunday, August 23 at the World Championships.
Moody, 28, who resides in Colorado Springs, Colo. earned her place on the U.S. team headed to the IAAF World Championships by placing fifth at the 2008 U.S. Women's Olympic Marathon Trials in 2:33:54, a personal record.
July 31- August 2, 2009 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships Lizzy Hynes ('09) travelled to Trinidad and Tobago to represent our country in the 3,000 meters.Lizzy finished in 10:04.92 to take 3rd in front of Emily Sisson, who finished 13 seconds later.
Tera Moody ('99) of Colorado Springs, Colo. topped the women in 1:13:37 followed by second-placer Fiona Docherty, 33, of New Zealand, who spends half the year training in Boulder, Colo. Docherty finished in 1:17:25. Both Moody and Docherty will face each other again as members of their respective USA and New Zealand national teams in Berlin.
Lizzy Hynes ('09) ran a blazing 9:51.0 to take 1st in the Women's 3000 Meter Run at the 2009 USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Lizzy beat the rest of the field by a full 4 seconds. Way to go, Lizzy!
Sophomore Kirsten Lang ('07) represented the Illinois State University Redbirds in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Mideast Championships. Lang earned her regional mark at the Valley championships, where she finished fifth with a time of 10:45.13.
The St. Charles, Ill., native entered the regional meet with the 18th fastest time. Lang turned in a time of 10:51.50 with a 12-place finish, which was her second-best time of her career and six seconds shy of her personal-best mark of 10:45.19.
"Kirsten was ranked 18th coming in and finished 10th in her heat so she beat eight women in her race that were seeded higher than her," said assistant coach Jeff Bovee. "She ran a strong race and has made a remarkable improvement from last year. I really think that this is going to be a huge confidence booster for her. She finished 12th overall, which makes her eligible to get an at-large bid to the national meet, she has two more years so we will see what she can do in these next two years."

Kirsten Lang ('07) took seventh in the Women 5000 Meter Run for Illinois State by finishing in 17:37.93. She also finished 20th in the Women 3000 Meter Run with a time of 10:21.77.
The Mids received a season-best effort from Alexander Jackson ('07), who faced a strong field in the 400 dash. Jackson finished with the team's best 400-clocking in 50.34.
The women's milers claimed the first through sixth positions, sophomore Kirsten Lang ('07) cruised to a second-place finish with a personal-best 5:08.83.
Freshmen Alex Jackson ('07) finished as Navy's top performer in the 200-meter race. Jackson ran to a runner-up finish in the 200 with a 22.68 clocking.
The Illinois State track and field women's and men's 3,000-meter runners captured both first and second-place finishes with Kirsten Lang ('07) winning the women's race in a personal-best 10:17.83.

Nov. 15, 2008 NCAA Midwest Region Cross Country Championships
The ISU women placed four runners within seven positions of each other with sophomore Kirsten Lang leading the charge for the Redbirds and crossing the finish line with a time of 22:37.30 to place 62nd.
The Illini men finished ninth out of the 23 teams competing at the event. Junior Garrett Weaver was their third scoring runner and finished in 59th place with a time of 32:49.50.
Nov. 15, 2008 NCAA Southeast Regional
North Carolina State's women's cross country team finished 18th. Krista Moss finished with a time of 24:12.3 to place 174th.
The Illinois men's cross country team competed at the Big Ten Championships on Sunday at the University of Michigan Golf Course, finishing ninth. Junior Garrett Weaver was the Illini's fourth runner in (56th, 25:48).

Illinois State sophomores Kirsten Lang led the effort of the Redbird women's cross country team Saturday at the Indiana State Pre-Nationals on the LeVerne Gibson Championship Course. Lang covered the 6K course in a personal-best 22:33.4 in the women's Blue race.
"Kirsten really had a great race and was able to jump in there. This is really her kind of race; the course was giddy and hilly it is her type of challenge."
John Deutsch rounded out the Lewis University Flyers varsity finishers with a time of 29:55.04 at theBorder War Cross Country Championship, hosted by SIU Edwardsville on Saturday morning.
The Mars Hill College women's cross country team traveled to Louisville to participate in the Greater Louisville Classic. Tabitha Kielhack turned in a time of 25:47.04.
Illinois State women took fifth out of a field of 23 competitors at the 53rd running of the Notre Dame Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame and held at the ninth hold of the Notre Dame Golf Course Friday evening. Sophomore Kirsten Lang finished 33 in 18:25.
North Carolina State University's women's cross country team easily won its race Saturday at the ECU Invitational. Krista Moss was the team's seventh runner and took 20th (19:53).
The Denison Big Red men's cross country team turned in another outstanding performance on Saturday as they placed second at the Cedarville University Open at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course in Cedarville, Ohio. Sophomore Todd Johnson came in 57th ( 29:51.08).
The Fighting Illini men's cross country team finished second at the Sean Earl Invitational hosted by Loyola in Chicago on Saturday. A large field consisting of 34 teams and 371 athletes competed. Garrett Weaver came in 34th (25:51).
Sophomore Kirsten Lang was the top Illinois State finisher, crossing the line in eighth place. Lang crossed the line first for the Redbirds at the 18:43 mark (5K).
"Kirsten Lang went from a walk-on last year to being our top-runner," Illinois State head coach Jeff Bovee said. "She's really coming into her own. She has worked real hard, been consistent and done all the things that you hoped she would do."

Emily Landan (University of Iowa) ran the 2008 Chicago Marathon to raise money for the University of Iowa Dance Marathon, a 24 hour event to raise money for pediatric cancers patients at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. Please check out her marathon page. Emily finished the marathon in 04:48:17. Congratulations, Emily!
Tera Moody of Boulder, Colorado was fifth in the U.S. Olympic Women’s Marathon Trials in Boston and Cambridge in April in 2:33:54 - a more than 12-minute improvement on her Trials qualifying time of 2:46:40 for ninth place at the 2007 Chicago Marathon. On Monday, Labor Day, Moody, who is 27, will enter the New Haven Road Race in Connecticut, a USA 20K Championship. Read entire interview.

Alums Run the Saints Challenge
There was a large group of St. Charles alums who returned to run the Saints Challenge 5K on Sunday, June 29th. Our newest alums ('08 grads) had one last run with their teammates before heading off to college. Some of our older alums returned along with their spouses and some even brought their children. Rairdon sets two outdoor track school records
Tim Rairdon, a senior at Knox College, set two school records and won an individual championship at the Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Rairdon won the 800-meter run at the conference meet in a time of 1:54.45 on Saturday, May 10, to break the previous school record of 1:58.10 set by Brian Campbell on May 8, 1993. The day before, Rairdon set a Knox school record in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:57.85, good for second place in the conference. His time shattered the previous school record time of 4:02.20 set by Brian Campbell on May 20, 1994. Read more...

Congrats to Christine Wampach, Saints alum, who took 68th place for women (out of 4000) with a finish time of 1:41:12 at Cincinnati's Flying Pig 1/2 Marathon on May 4.
Tera finishes 5th! Matt finishes under 3 hours!
(4/20/08)Saints alum, Tera Moody, finished fifth in the Olympic Marathon trials in Boston with a time of 2:33:54. The battle for the alternate’s position was almost as thrilling as that to determine the winner. In the home straight, Tera Moody and Zoila Gomez went toe to toe, the latter getting the decision by a single stride, 2:33:53 to 2:33:54. Read an interview with Tera after the marathon.
